Marble Art Culture
20 years of stone culture
Events by Vincenzo Pavan
In 1985, Marmomacc began encouraging dialogue with architects, designers and the university world through a series of events focusing on contemporary stone architecture. Stone materials have always been part of “design culture”; so much so that still today – together with other successful “modern” materials – stone is a protagonist in new architectural languages. The cultural and educational initiatives organised by VeronaFiere focusing on the potential of stone materials involve designers and producers to ensure opportunities for comparison and exchange of experiences. Their interaction has made it possible to instigate research and experiments with the objective of updating the aesthetic and performance features of stone, not the least by emphasising innovative applications.
The awards, shows and conventions organised during the twenty editions of “Marble Art Culture” witness and document – through on-going publications of projects by and meetings with the most important figures in the world of architecture – the impressive richness of the stone architecture scene on an international scale over the last twenty years. Twenty years of experience with “Marble Art Culture” were illustrated June 20th 2006 at the Milan Triennial during the Press Conference presenting the 41st Marmomacc.
The coming edition will once again embrace an impressive range of events focusing on shows, conventions and training.
